We get asked all the time by Scottsdale residents – “Will you come down our street?” Unfortunately, Scottsdale is one of the few, if only, major Valley cities that bans ice cream trucks along public roadways, so we cannot serve the Scottsdale neighborhoods. We are 100% behind Leo’s Law which is trying to change the ban on the ice cream man! The ordinance being proposed to legalize ice cream trucks in Scottsdale (Article XXI) will make this business among the most highly regulated in Scottsdale including: criminal background checks for all operators with prohibitions for convicted burglars, sex offenders, drunk drivers, and drug dealers. All drivers will be fingerprinted. There will be a high licensing fee to keep out all but the most professional operators. All neighborhood routes are to be registered with the city prior to entering any neighborhood. Trust me, the newspaper delivery, lawn maintenance, pest control, and numerous other service providers that drive through our neighborhoods daily do not have anywhere near the accountability that the ice cream man will have! Ice cream trucks operate virtually incident free nationwide in virtually every major city in the country. Scottsdale will have among the most highly regulated operators in the U.S.A. We need each and every one of you to attend the City Council meeting on Tuesday April 9 at 5pm. It will be held at: 3939 N Drinkwater Blvd Scottsdale. We need all of our supporters who are Scottsdale residents to speak at the meeting on behalf of the ordinance. You can do that by registering 15 minutes before the meeting at the City Council chambers. Please tell the clerk that you would like to speak and then they will register you. Thank you for your support!
